Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to present the violence and erasure that occurs against women with disabilities as expressed in society. As a result of increasing social awareness from the middle of the 20th century, the voices for rights for women, children, farmers, minority communities and disabled people started getting louder. On the one hand, physical, economic, social and cultural changes are gradually taking place in developed and developing societies. On the other hand, increasing epidemics and discriminatory politics are pushing women, children, farmers, minority communities and disabled people to the margins in the same societies. Still, if there was any class that was at the most disadvantage, it was the disabled community, which was always kept at the lowest level despite the increasing social awareness in society. Not only did the issue of disability remain at the lowest level, but this class also remained significantly behind in the modern era, and it is constantly trying to improve its position on the ladder of development. Any disabled person must face many obstacles in continuing his life and fighting for equality in society. Of course, men and women with disabilities are discriminated against because of their disabilities. Still, women with disabilities face double discrimination due to the combined discrimination and violence based on gender and disability. They are pushed to the lowest level of mainstream society and are more likely to be institutionalized than others. Hence, this article will discuss in detail issues relating to the elimination of violence against women with disabilities by elaborating on the various types of violence faced by these women, such as discriminatory access to housing, health, vocational training, education, employment, and gender-based exploitation., etc.
