Abstract
This study examines the English language skills of native Bengali speakers from West Bengal with a focus on the difference between those educated in Bengali-medium institutions and those in English-medium ones. This research aims to assess these groups' English proficiency, consider how schooling language affects grammar and vocabulary usage, and spot any distinctions in group talk. The investigation dives into the intricate connection between educational medium and English language proficiency, approaching it longitudinally to examine generational shifts in terminologies and grammar. The study links institutional language to a better comprehension of English. The study employs an extensive participatory approach to achieve its goals. The participants are native Bengali speakers born in West Bengal, divided into two groups based on previous instruction: Bengali medium and English medium. The methodology is constructed to scrutinize each element, from vocabulary to compliance. The longitudinal study regulates age factors by selecting participants of various ages. The research will use meticulous data gathering and assessment methods. This study provides a comprehensive picture of English skills among native Bengali speakers, intending to shed light on the connection between educational medium and language development. Ultimately, this research may inform educational practices and legislative frameworks to instill native Bengali speakers with an extensive knowledge of English.
